All fluids and solids will comply with Energy Resource Conservation Board (ERCB)
guidelines for Class 1B fluids and solids handling. Oil that has been treated and/or
recovered is pipelined and marketed through the Pembina Pipeline facility. Produced
(Class II) and residual treatment waters (Class IB) are deep well injected at our onsite
Class Ib disposal well. Residual solids are transported to the Secure Class II South
Grande Prairie Landfill.
As responsible corporate neighbors, Secure has designed, constructed and is committed
to operating our facilities with full regard to the environment and public health and safety.
Secure has employed best engineering practices in the development of this project:
A closed system is utilized when offloading any sour hydrocarbon based liquid and slurry
loads to prevent fugitive H2S emissions and occupational exposure.
Our process vessels and tanks utilize a state of the art vapor collection and recovery
system to ensure no fugitive emissions. As part of that collection system, each tank is
“blanketed” with natural gas to minimize any odours associated with the tank contents. When
new product enters any tank, the blanket gas is displaced from the tank and is sent via the
vapour recovery system to the flare system. Conversely, when product leaves the tank, additional
blanket gas is added to the system to keep the system operating safely.
The site has an intermittent, air assisted natural gas piloted flare at the site.
Flaring activities at the site will continue to meet the requirements of ERCB Directive 60.
